Peters Engineering provided complete mechanical consulting and engineering for the project which included (2) two story classroom buildings of approximately 30,000 square feet. The buildings consisted of classrooms, science rooms and restrooms. Rooftop indirect/direct evaporative cooling with DX backup were chosen for the HVAC systems after a life cycle cost analysis indicated the system was the best overall choice. The classroom air distribution uses displacement ventilation technology and combined with a variable airflow system maximized the energy efficiency and learning environment for the students. Complete plumbing systems were also designed including gas and air for the science rooms.
The project exceeded T-24 requirements by almost 30% and the school district received a cost incentive based on the overall building energy savings.
