The Estimator position is responsible for using a combination of past experiences and project specifications to accurately project the amount of materials, equipment, and man-hours that must be utilized in order to complete a given project. Based on these calculations, they create a project budget that is then presented to Management.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Identify bid opportunities, Visit Site, Attend pre-bid meeting
Analyze take-offs for quantity comparisons, Analyze, Geotech report, Prepare risk analysis/strategy,
Solicit subcontractors and vendors / handle questions/scope issues
Ensure DBE goals are met, Prepare & submit questions to the owner
Order bid bond, request railroad/builders risk insurance quotes
Prepare subcontractor and vendor scope sheets
Must possess a thorough knowledge of project specifications and how the work is paid,
Detailed cost breakdowns
Calculate trucking, productions, crew hours
Break the work into phases (if necessary) and the differential production rates / multiple mobilizations required
Prepare estimate as sub / self-perform for some potentially subcontracted scopes
If successful, prepare post bid documents for owners, handoff notes for operations and conduct handoff meeting
Qualifications

Education/Experience
4-year degree in construction management and or civil engineering is desired but not necessary, equivalent experience in heavy highway construction.
Valid state driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.
Knowledge of HCSS, AGTEK Highway 3D, Microsoft Projects and all Microsoft Office Products a plus.

The General Laborer position is responsible for performing various duties on construction grading and/or paving projects. The employee will generally work in utility capacity by transferring from one task to another where demands are required. The career field for “Construction Laborer” includes, but may not be limited to, the following positions: Laborer, General Laborer, and Paving Laborer. Class A/B CDL holders strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
Properly follow all company policies and OSHA/MSHA regulations for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, Safety Manager, or Human Resources Manager.
Assist grading and/or patching crew with various duties such as; shoveling and raking aggregate or asphalt, installing grade stakes, safely backing/dumping trucks.
Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and materials with shovels.
Follow directions of Foreman as to daily tasks and expectations for each specific project or job site.
Digs, spreads, and levels construction materials.
Lifts, carries and holds material, tools, and supplies.
Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Experience
High school diploma or General Education Degree GED is preferred.
Previous related experience in the paving or grading field preferred.
Class A or B CDL holders strongly preferred.
Work Requirements
Must be 18 years in age or older.
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and criminal background check.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required.
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls.
Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in construction and paving.
Ability to read, write and do basic mathematical calculations.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
CDL preferred but not required.

This is a skilled position involving the safe and efficient operation of various types of construction equipment including but not limited to Loaders, Back Hoes, Track Hoes, Haul Trucks, Etc.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
Responsible for safe slopes on excavations and proper barricading.
Locate utilities and other buried lines prior to digging.
Perform minor servicing and maintenance or refer major problems to the supervisor.
Keep time and material records.
Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications.
Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit.
Travel from the interstate highway to rural dirt roads from various locations.
